Taulava fined P32,500, Abueva slapped with P22,000 fine ; both players will have one game suspension.

For slapping San Miguel forward David Semerad in their PBA Governors Cup game last Friday, PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa suspended NLEX veteran center Asi Taulava for one game and fined him a total of P32,500.

The suspension immediately takes effect in the Road Warriors’ game against Ginebra on Wednesday night.

Majority of the fine or P20,000, covers the flagrant foul penalty 2 Taulava committed for the slap on Semerad, while P10,000 was for joining the fracas instead of pacifying the protagonists.

The remaining P2,500 was for the technical foul he committed for second motion.

Calvin Abueva may have escaped punishment from the referees, but not from the PBA.

The league has cracked the whip on the Alaska star, suspending him for one game in the Governors’ Cup and slapping him with a P22,000 fine for his elbow to the face of Ginebra wingman Chris Ellis in their game last Sunday night.

Watch the video here:

As he was getting up after they got entangled in a hustle play early in the fourth quarter, Abueva swung an elbow at Ellis - a second motion the referees missed but was caught on TV replays, which the league reviewed.
