PH-Mighty Sports still unbeaten after thrashing USA-Sacramento State
Philippines-Mighty Sports remained unbeaten in the 2016 William Jones Cup after cruising past USA-Sacramento State, 88-69, on Tuesday in Taiwan.
PH-Mighty Sports improved to 3-0, sharing the top spot with Iran which also boasts an identical card.
Dewarick Spencer and Vernon Macklin scored 14 points apiece to lead PH-Mighty Sports which also got 12 markers each from Al Thornton and Michael Singletary.
Hamady N’Diaye was also a monster in defense, blocking eight shots to go along with his six points and three rebounds.
PH-Mighty Sports started the game slow as the squad trailed in the opening minutes, 17-12, due to the explosion of Taiwanese hotshot Jeff Wu who scored 11 points on perfect four-of-four shooting in the first quarter.
But PH-Mighty Sports was able to get its game going and tied the score at 23-all at the end of the period.
PH-Mighty Sports then turned it into a blowout in the second period, unleashing a 15-2 run that turned a mere 34-31 lead into a 49-33 cushion thanks to former PBA imports Macklin and Thornton, who combined for 21 first half points.
PH-Mighty Sports expanded the lead to 25, 67-42, in the third quarter and never looked back.
