La Salle coach Aldin Ayo ejected from game vs UE

Coach Aldin Ayo was ejected in the second quarter of his team’s game against UE on Wednesday after an unusual interaction wherein he attempted to put eyeglasses on a referee.

With his team leading, 40-28, La Salle’s Thomas Torres was knocked out of bounds by UE’s Wilson Bartolome right in front of the Green Archers’ bench. Unhappy with the non-call, Ayo tried to give the referee a pair of glasses, which resulted in him getting two technical fouls and sent off the playing court.

Despite losing their coach before halftime, the Green Archers still defeated the Red Warriors, 84-78.

The ejection, though, comes with an automatic one-game suspension, which means he could miss La Salle’s clash against rival Ateneo on Sunday. He will be allowed to appeal the decision, though.

La Salle leads UAAP Season 79 with a pristine 6-0 record while Ateneo is in second place at 4-2.
