Coach Tim not surprised by Scottie Thompson’s contributions in win: ‘He was a triple-double performer in the NCAA’

“Why am I not surprised? He was a triple-double performer in the NCAA and he’s been doing that in practice,” said Ginebra head coach Tim Cone.

“When we saw him coming out of nowhere to get rebounds during our practices, we knew that Scottie is truly special and deserves a special spot in the team.”

Though Thompson doesn’t always have the chance to produce this way, especially in a crowded backcourt rotation that includes star players LA Tenorio, Mark Caguioa and Jayjay Helterbrand, Cone is confident that the young player will continue to blossom moving forward.

“Scottie is biding his time. We don’t want to rush it. But he’ll be given opportunities. He’s the future of this franchise,” added Cone.
