Trade Alert: Cyrus Baguio to Phoenix

Veteran swingman Cyrus Baguio will be heading to the Phoenix Fuel Masters after acquiring him from the Alaska Aces in a trade on Wednesday.

Apart from Baguio, Alaska also gave away a second round pick in 2017. In exchange, the Aces got Phoenix’s second round picks in 2017 and 2018.

The 35-year-old Baguio spent almost seven years with Alaska which he helped win its last championship in the 2013 Commissioner’s Cup.

Known for his acrobatic layups during his heyday, “Skyrus” remained a valuable piece of Alaska which, since last year, has suffered heartbreaks. The Aces finished as runners-up in four of its five finals appearances dating back to last year.

Baguio has career averages of 10.79 points, 3.21 rebounds and 2.54 assists.

Getting Baguio is just one of the roster moves of Phoenix which, under new coach Ariel Vanguardia, is trying to be competitive in the upcoming season-ending Governors’ Cup.

Last Tuesday, Phoenix secured Ronjay Buenafe from Meralco Bolts. -interaksyon.com
