Parker, Batum, and Diaw will lead France in Fiba OQT

The France national basketball team will be enjoying its killer NBA trio in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament after confirming the inclusion of Charlotte Hornets forward Nicolas Batum in the squad.

The 6’8″ forward has earlier expressed doubts about joining the Les Bleus in the Olympic qualifier due to his impending free agency in the NBA.

But it turned out that he put his country on top of his priorities after the French Basketball Federation named him to its national team’s final 12-man lineup.

With Batum in, France will be joining fellow national team veterans Tony Parker and Boris Diaw of the San Antonio Spurs to form a very formidable trio that has just made them an overwhelming favorite.

France’s starpower doesn’t end there as the Les Bleus also have Denver Nuggets big man Joffrey Lauvergne and reigning EuroLeague MVP Nando De Colo.

With Batum in, France secured a versatile player whose elite defense, outside shooting and ballhandling skills make him a matchup nightmare.

France will face Gilas Pilipinas on the tournament’s opening day on July 5 at Mall of Asia Arena.
