Here’s Gilas Pilipinas’ 14-man lineup for FIBA Olympic Qualifier

The Philippine national men’s basketball team announced on Thursday morning its 14-man pool for the upcoming FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in July.

The players composing Gilas Pilipinas 4.0 are:

6. Calvin Abueva
7. Ranidel De Ocampo
8. Marc Pingris
9. Japeth Aguilar
10. Ray Parks
11. Jeff Chan
12. LA Tenorio
13. Troy Rosario
14. Ryan Reyes

The news was announced by Gilas Pilipinas team manager Butch Antonio.

Cut from the 15-man lineup in consideration of making it to the Olympic qualifier lineup is Marcio Lassiter, who is still suffering from bronchopneumonia.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas had submitted a 24-player list to FIBA for the tournament, but some of them already begged off due to injuries. They are Greg Slaughter, Matt Ganuelas-Rosser and Paul Lee.

Also cut from initial lineup are amateur players Kiefer Ravena, Mac Belo, Russell Escoto, Kevin Ferrer and Roger Pogoy. Mo Tautuaa, the team’s backup for the naturalized player spot, was also left off.

The 14 selected players will compose Gilas Pilipinas’ roster in its training camp in Europe. The team will head to Greece and Italy as part of its buildup for the Olympic qualifier.

The pool will be further trimmed to 12 in time for the tournament in Manila that will tip off on July 5 at Mall of Asia Arena.
