Tropang Texters signs NBA veteran Jason Maxiell

Jason Maxiell, who played for the Detroit Pistons for eight seasons, has agreed to play for the Tropang TNT as its reinforcement when the season-ending PBA Governors’ Cup reels off July 15.
TNT coach Jong Uichico made the confirmation on the 6-5 Maxiell, who has actually seen action in the NBA for ten years.

“We hope he fits the role we need from an import,” said Uichico, 53, who have been settling with the likes of top rookie pick Moala Tautuaa, mainstay Ranidel de Ocampo, former league MVP Kelly Williams, freshman Troy Rosario, veteran Danny Seigle and undersized power forward Harvey Carey on his frontcourt rotation.

“We need a big man who can provide rebounding which we really needs,” he added.

His best performance with the Pistons came during the 2012-2013 season when Maxiell averaged 6.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 0.8 assists while playing as the starter in all but one of 72 games during the regular season.
