Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone is confident that his the locals can hold the fort should starting center Greg Slaughter fail to make an immediate return after undergoing ankle surgery last month.

Cone mentioned that operating on his patented triangle offense meant the Kings won’t have to be overly dependent on the traditional big men setup.

“We’re very capable of playing a position-less offense because of the triangle,” Cone told FOX Sports. “We can play Joe Devance, Jervy (Cruz) and then Japeth (Aguilar) (in the bigs position).”

The 6-foot-11 Slaughter is averaging 20.16 point, 11.96 rebounds and 2.04 assists in 35.36 minutes this season. But an ankle injury over a month ago, forced him to drop out of the Gilas Pilipinas pool to undergo operation.

Nonetheless, the entry of sweet-shooting import Paul Harris will add a new dimension on Ginebra’s offense. The American coach said with Harris around, they intend to do a lot of things come the PBA Governors Cup.

“We got an import in Paul Harris who is an energy guy. He plays at a very high level so we’re gonna try different things,” explained the all-time PBA winning coach.

Cone in fact, is happy to be able to bring in Harris, who is not only a sharp-shooting forward, but one “who serves as a good model” and can live up to the “never-say-die” mantra of Ginebra.
